SUSTAINABLE SHIPPING IS FILLED TO THE BRIM

We know that shipping has an environmental impact on our planet. Which is why it is our policy to only ship full containers from the factories that produce Blåkläder garments. We are able to do this by working with only a few carefully selected factories, and by monitoring our entire supply chain. In addition, meticulous advance planning allows us to sidestep more expensive, environmentally burdensome options such as airfreight. Our refined logistics operations and automated storage system in Svenljunga also offer us complete control over our garments. This means that our customers can focus on their businesses and have their workwear delivered when they need it, without unnecessary waits or delays. That’s what we call sustainable.

We are aware of the discussions surrounding the function and significance of plastic, and for us it is always a balancing act. We use plastic for two reasons; firstly to prevent the garments getting dirty during shipping, storage and handling. And, secondly, to create a dry environment for garments during both shipping and storage. We also use desiccants, to prevent mould and odour. The overall carbon footprint of plastic packaging is less than that of having to decontaminate mouldy or stained clothes prior to use. Without plastic, we would run the risk of mould, which could even lead to us having to reject garments. A plastic bag is substantially less costly than having to reject a finished garment. From this perspective, using plastic packaging on our garments is a more sustainable choice. All of our plastic bags are recyclable, and we recycle all transparent plastics.

We are also responsible in our use of cardboard boxes, and 60% of all of our boxes from production are currently reused.
